I know we already have a few topics on piercings, but what do you think of doing it yourself? I really want more piercings but i just dont have the money so i was thinking about doing it myself or getting one of my friends ( who i trust alot obviously ) to do it. So what do you think good or bad idea ?

i have thought of piercing my cartlidge by myself as well...or at least getting my friend to do it for me :P and i don't think my mom approves the fact that i want to pierce my cartlidge because it will swell up or worse but, i dunno...i have friends who have pierced their own ears with a needle or a safety pin and there piercing is quite alright :) it all depends where you want your piercing at and the tools you use to pierce it. ^_^ i would not mind trying it out once but, it is highly recommended to go to a professional.

I nearly asked someone to pierce my belly button for me, like she did with this girl at the orchestra we both used to go to, but then I figured my mum would find out >.< However, having said this, I would ALWAYS recommend going to a specialist piercer. This particular girl already had experience in piercing, that's the only reason I even contemplated it. The problem with piercing yourself is that there are things which could go wrong if you pierce yourself, even if you look after your piercing well. A friend of mine pierced her nose herself, but it reacted so badly she had to take it out and get it redone professionally once it had calmed down anyway. If you REALLY want to pierce yourself yourself, then at least 1. make sure that whatever you use to pierce yourself with has been sterilized and you're either wearing gloves or have thoroughly washed your hands, 2. pierce somewhere like an ear lobe rather than any cartilage area, and 3. use a bar made of sterling silver or titanium or any good metal, rather than just the cheapo ones, because if not, I can pretty much guarantee that it will get infected. But I really wouldn't recommend it.

If you ask me? No. Wait till you have some money and have a professional to do it. Doing it yourself can be very prone to infection, and no one likes an infected piercing. Infected Piercing: 1) Look Nasty 2) HURT 3) might leave scarring 4) you'll have to wait for your body to fight off the infection to pierce it again. Point is: Get a professional to do it. Be smart.

I agree^ A few days ago I tried gaging my ears, which didn't work very well, and I found out that my right ear is VERY prone to infections... also my friend Gage, gave me a surface piercing on my arm because he was trying to break my pain tolerance... honestly I didnt feel a thing, but now i have this nasty scar on my arm, and I still have a slight bruise from it, and he did it over two months ago xD
