I just got dumped by my boyfriend and I will quote exactly what he said: "Umm I think it was a bad choice to ask u out cuz we were too good of friends please don't be mad and hope we can go back too the way things were" well, sufficed to say, I am mad. My number one rule is to not date your friends. its too awkward. So my question is, am I wrong? should I date friends? it just doesnt feel right. its awkward! ...right? :\grr

i dated a friends once... didnt work lol it was awkward when we were together at school but that was just me, i know a few ppl who date there best friends and it works out fine :P

I really depends on you but I think that if things end badly in the relationship then it's a ruined friendship and thing'll never be the same but thats just my opinion from what i've seen.

Friends are the safest option, we know them best. Usually you have to get to know someone and be their friend before you like them and subsequently date them. At least, that's how I do things. But at times it can be awkward, it just depends on the situation. Alas, to each his own.

tricky subject.. only date them if you actually really like them as more then a freind. and dont go from freind to boyfreind overnight like give it time to get to know each other better 1st by doing innocent things like dates e.t.c.... but if you ever cross the intimacy bridge theres no going back :/

^Exactly. 50/50 situation. I'd date some friends I know and it could work out well or just ruin everything..

yeah i've actually tried it. one i broke up with because he was controlling and the other one well.. he was awesome! but he was moving :( so that sucked

Well sometimes it works. I ended up going out with my best guy friend buuuuuut we were on and off and didnt really work. And its true. its 50/50 cause you dont wanna go out with someone you dont know. So youre not wrong but i understand how it could feel awkward after having to had been friends for a while

yeah and because we dated and broke up i ended up losing one of my best guy friends :(

^ your lucky! I miss the guy friends i dated well i only dated like 3 of them but they were awesome friends they don't even talk to me anymore

Sometimes best friends become partners for life, and sometimes your better as just friends, depends on the person really
