This is a poem I wrote for french class; the last poem I wrote at age 18. Je parle à la nuit Et elle me répond Avec ses bruits : Les chansons nocturnes : Le siffle de sa chorale Des grenouilles et des grillons Qui font la sérénade Pour les personnes qui dorment. Je marche avec la nuit Dans le chemin froid Et elle me couvre ; Ma couverture noire. Avec ses étoiles Elle me raconte une histoire ; Les constellations montrent La vie des morts. Hélas Je marche dans l’obscurité Et elle m’étreint Les lucioles sont les seules lumières Qui me guident a ma fin. Je parle à la nuit Et elle me parle J’étreins l’opacité, Je suis son étoile ; Et chaque nuit Nous écoutons les anges. Vybz © October 27 2011 I speak to the night, And she responds to me With her noises; Her sounds: The whistle of her choir Of frogs and crickets Who serenade Those who slumber. I’m walking with the night, In her cold path, And she covers me; My black blanket. With her stars She tells me a story, The constellations show The life of the departed. I walk in the darkness And she embraces me The fireflies are the only lights Which guide me to my end I‘m speaking with the night, And she responds. I embrace the darkness, I am her star, And every night We listen to the angelic choir.
