Call me a cold-hearted bitch, because I know I am. I am listening to "If You Can't Hang" by Sleeping with Sirens. I love this song. It's about cheating and heartbreak (which is one of the most common themes in lyrics for emo bands, I guess). Even though I think the guy in the lyrics is such a sucker I can't help feeling sympathy towards him (I also think he is cute,,, maybe it's because the guy is Kellin) at the same time, the story really makes me think. Why does the persona keep getting cheated and hurt? Everything has a pattern and if something keeps repeatedly happening, there should be a reason why. The only way you can make changes in your life is by tracing and defining these patterns. And you have to do everything to get out of the vicious cycle. Acknowledge yourself. How to become stronger? By knowing your weaknesses. So if he keeps getting cheated in the same ways by women, is it him or them? People will cheat. That's in the human nature. Not necessarily it is a physical cheating, but it also can be an emotional cheating. Which one does hurt you more? We are living in a capitalist society so if you don't like something, then don't buy it. If someone else has a better quality than me then there is always a chance for my partner to cheat on me. The only way you can ever get over that heartbreak and bitterness is by becoming better and stronger than the person. We can easily forgive someone when we feel that we have a power over the person. Interestingly, there are two women now I am thinking of: George Sand and Lou Andreas-Salome. These women were cheaters and yet, they were more attractive when they were interacting with various men than when they were alone. They loved and inspired so many people, which became a great source of energy for creating great art works. There is a no right or wrong way of reading literature (It would have been terrible if there was). It's always fun to read a piece from different angles and perspectives and put yourself in someone else's shoe. I can't believe that someone can cheat and break a heart of such an adorable guy like Kellin, but well, nobody is perfect, right :)
