I'm here for a year abroad on the Erasmus exchange programme, which is why I'll be in Durham until the end of June :3 To be honest, it's hard to make a comparison, but what I do know is that I love it in Durham (it's a beautiful city and the university is top-notch) but I'm also looking forward to seeing my family again over the Christmas vacation :) But in general, yes, England is a great place to be, the only downsides compared to Germany are the ridiculously high housing prices and the even shittier weather. But Germany really isn't bad either, so I honestly couldn't say which place I prefer :D

I've spoken to quite a few people over here who have been to Germany for a few days and they all quite liked it - even if most of them have only been to cities that I myself have yet to see (Hamburg and Munich, for example)... but yeah, I'm sure you'd enjoy it :) Haven't travelled much either, the only places in England I've been to so far are Durham, Newcastle, London and Manchester :D
