Just interested in this... I have been into the emo scene since 2003. Pretty tough to say when you turned "emo" I guess so you can say when you became "alternative".. This is all very stereotypical I know, but that's how society is.

wen i woz in yer 7 i found out about emo so i ges about 3 years naw XD iv alwas liked alternativ stuf rely my dad liks old punk rock i used 2 b a cinda tomboy i ges

Before I was just a Normal Young Girl listening to Boybands but then when I turned 14 I became a Fan of Punk Music and it starts into Emo Lifestyle

wen i was 9 i think.. so that was last 2003(?),. i've started as metal but after,i've decided to switch into this genre EMO..

Well, I think I've always been just a little bit different to everyone else =P
But it was about year 9/10 that I really started getting into the music, and more into the lifestyle and such. Until then I never really listened to music to be honest, just sat around playing video games all day >__>
Was shortly after that I made a few friends (high shool was a drag >_<) and one of them was a goth, one of them was emo, one of them was a skater so so I guess I just got the best of all of them and went my own way ^___^ haha

I have been "alternative" since I was little. My sister pretty much raised me up to listen to MCR and MXPX. Haha. She's grown out of it these days, but I stayed with it

Well I grew up listening to classic rock anyway, so I was used to more alternative music, and then I was about 8 when I started listening to Avril Lavigne & Busted (ok, I know they're not exactly the most alternative bands around, but considering that, besides classic rock, I was generally listening to S Club 7, Steps, Liberty X etc. :P) and I took inspiration from their dress style, I much preferred it to what most people were wearing at the time. Then, when I started high school (2005), I was introduced to the emo scene. I really loved their style, and although I hadn't heard much emo music then (pretty much just Fall Out Boy :L), I liked that too. I became friends with a girl who was emo, and fell in love with the emo scene even more, but I was scared that her emo friends wouldn't accept me, so I kinda kept quiet. Then (thanks to the internet xD) I realised there was more to the alternative scene than just emo, got to listen to more alternative music, and gradually developed my own style and music taste :D It probably wasn't until year 9 though that you could tell the difference though :L

haha thats a long time ago since i was born i think xD my parents let me listen to iron maiden linkin park korn and that kind of music at first i was kinda goth until the ago of 9 than i starded to wear skinny jeans and starded dying my hair black so sinds 1992 xD

id have to say grade 7(middle school) when i was introduced to it which would bee 2007? :D
