I know most of us are guilty especially whilst on one of the many addictive online community sites, but I'd like to raise this point especially with it being the summer holidays. You should take a 5-minute break every hour from the computer screen. This might seem a bit OTT, but Guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) suggests it's better to take shorter breaks more often at your workstation than longer breaks. Read more at Directgov - directed towards the workplace but just as relevant for home use.

Matt at least try and take a break every 2 hours. I'm not one to talk really, but I do try.

I know i really should but im more of a day person like one day all ill do is have a screen in front of me from waking up to going to sleep but then another day ill never have a screen in front of me, ill just be doing stuff. I should try to mix them days up. But the thing is i never get a headache or anything like that. O well ill try to take breaks :P

I know it should count as a break :P and yes I have slipped :( I was catching up and now im like over 300 behined :( I was so close. well im coming back soon tantra :D then we can talk more again.

I sit on my laptop on my bed for hours without a break... but i do get distracted easily and wander off even if i am in a middle of a conversation. does that count as a break? plus, i always have tv on at the same time...like now XD so i switch between them which probally is not good...but i do wander off alot :)

You sit on your laptop haha :D That isn't a really proper break as you really need to get up and move about, but it's better than nothing!

fine, i sit AT my laptop. happy? XP And it is a proper break...i get up, wader into the bathroom, sort eyeliner out...wander downstairs, search the fridge...get a bag of crisps or summet, stroke the dog, wander back upstairs. takes up about half an hour. and i normally get a random thought and sit thinking beside my dog for a while =) its a good enough break for me!

Now you have explained it more yea that is a proper break. I might sound OTT but people are spending more and more time on the computer. When I was 16 I certainly didn't go on as much as most 16 year olds now.

Im one of the worst examples because I wake up turn laptop on and tv, and my laptop will be on until about 1am until I turn the playstation till 5-6am then sleep then the same the next day until someone wants to go out. My breaks are everytime i get hungry then I get up and go to the kitchen do a little dance get something, dance back then sit down again.

haha do a dance :D Oh and you also have to think about your computers health :D A laptop especially doesn't like to be left on all day.
