does your school wrongfully block certain sites? if so... let me know May 19 2009, 04:38 AM

As we all know, schools block websites. Some are actually deservant of it. My example would pornographic sites, excessively (to the point where you want to vomit) disgusting sites, sites to do with alcohol/drugs, action sites and many other sites. Well, i decided yesterday to take a moment and look up some information on potetially haunted places and places that have had a UFO siting. Upon doing this, i can across the fact that the PRS (Paranormal Research Society) home website was blocked. I was mildly shocked. I also came came to see that almost all the other sites like it were blocked. So i decided to do a little UFO research. while not very many websites were blocked for that, there was still a few. In curiosity, i saw a thing on the website telling me it was blocked that said Categorization. I checked it out. As i read it, i saw one thing that pissed me off quite a bit. According to that page, you can NOT look up things to do with alternative sexuality/lifestyles and alternative spirituality/occult. if your internet will let you... here is the site

if you can get to this website not using a school computer, it will show you a list of blocked categories. it is unfair to those that are of the opposite religion of christianity. and i  am appalled to see that my future as a paranormal investigator is being blocked by a screen telling me that ghosts are inappropriate.

nearly every thing's blocked in my school by Caerphilly County Borough Council. Even some sites the teachers need, even my site on HTML codes is blocked.... but youtube and inappropriate adult materiel isn't blocked and people go on it in front of the teachers....

You tube is blocked unless you actually go to a youtube videos url so you cant go to youtube.com or the search but you can go onto videos & related videos

i also agree that youtube should be blocked. or just certain things on there because some videos come pretty close to pornographic. but lets say i was satanic and i wanted to go to the church of satan's website and it was blocked and i see that some other guy of a completely different religion get on their website (think like the church of god to be less vauge), i'd be very much offended.

the web security systems of all schools are idiotic and pornographic and offensive (to all) sites should be blocked such as porn (not some mad guys opinion on offensive)

yup, yup... what's even more idiotic is that i have tried to talk about this to the principal many times over the recent year and he has yet to confront me about it. granted he may be busy, but its been a whole year and ive tried many many times.

petitioning doesnt solve a damn thing. you can try as many times you feel neccassary but it wont do anything. gotta remember, we're minors. adults tend to think that they have more power over us so they take advantage of it.

to be honest I have partitioned to get a guy out of school & it worked, the pupils around us partition for eco committee and council and it worked, my school literally riots to be heard, look up Pontllanfraith Comprehensive School and there is teachers striking, pupils rioting and no matter what anyone says I know the pupils know what they want & how to get it.

you must have that school that only posts the positive shit because i looked and didnt see a thing about rioting. what would it be under? it couldve been because i didnt check the other links... i just checked the lastest news area. and you gotta remember, i live in the US, you live in the UK... it seems like politics and schools are more keen to not listen over here than over there, then again ive never been to school there.

They do only post the positives... It was about a year ago now, I tried to look for the news results but I can't find any, there was something like 6 police forces there and I think 3 pupils were arrested... I'll keep looking for a report on it EDIT: It looks like its been erased but there'll be youtube vids somewhere

What i find totally insane about our school is...it blocks blumming revision sites..well, if they don't want me to revise i'm fine with that =] But, i can get on sonic the hedgehog which can be fun at times but soninc didn't really teach me much about Germany for my History exam

Lyrics are blocked too... Albeit nothing to do with work, it's blocked. Because it is "Music appreciation". And a lot of sites about animals were blocked. Our IT people are crap xD

well, here's the thing about how schools work. they think whatever is "harmful" (since when did schools know whats right and not though???), should be blocked. For example, our school says no to discrimination for religion. Thats a crock full of shit. They say anything satanic or of anything unexplained or of an alternative sexuality/occult. and after a summer and many complaints, the school has yet to fix the problem. i smell a civil suit in the near future.
