I walk down the lane to you, You are lying in the grass. I smile and hold up the flowers, You do not respond. Not a wave or flicker of emotion, Can be seen from your stone face. No warmth from your cold exterior, To send the chill from out of my bones. I read your face like a book, Cold and uninviting as always. Words written across your front, Engraved, embossed and the rest. No colourful garments to brighten, Your appearance on this drab day. The fourteenth of February twenty ten, Happy Valentines Day, my sweet. I set the flowers down by your head, And kneel further down by your feet. No you don't have any roses, For me or from somebody else. But never toss or turn, my love, My sweet Benjamin Parker. 'Born fourteenth of February, 1989, Died fourteenth of February, 2009. A warm and loving, young man, Who loved all of those around him. Who always wore a smile, And brightened up every drab day. Who always bore a gift, To all of those he loved and knew. Happy Valentines, Benji, And may all of your dreams come true'. I get up and leave now, Taking with me a daisy. I'd found it lying near his head, A paper built, little thing. I unfolded all of the little creases, And read the little note inside. 'Happy Valentines Day, My Love, And may my love reach you from up here'.
