So, every stereotype (mostly Scene and Emo though) have their "posers". Honestly, I'm curious because most of the definitions of one are BS. What's your definition of a "poser"? They used to be anyone bright and happy (but now that's considered Scene), anyone who cut, anyone who didn't follow the clothing style, ect. Personally, I don't think that is even close anymore. It kinda makes me sad seeing all the little 9-10 year olds walking around saying, "Oh, I'm so emo. I hate my life. I'm going to kill myself. Blah blah blah" just because that's what they think emo is. Emo isn't a style, but a way of life. Many before me have said that but it's true. So, back to my real question. What's your definition of a "poser"?

In my oponion, a poser is simply anyone who pretends, to be something there not. That's my main definition. I'm not totally outcasting a few "sub-definitions" like let's say the poser was trying to be emo, they would almost certainly dress like your stereotypical emo. But then again, it may just be a person who has a thing for the emo style, as apposed to a ravages and forgotten, insecure and insignificant soul pleading for everyone to acknowledge them as something there not. Be nice to posers, people. I know they might give you a hard time, but being the only people they look up to will give you the opportunity to show them that To betruly accepted you must try to gain acceptance for yourslef, not who your pretending to be :)

Posers.... hmmmm... for emo scene I am currently dealing with this through my sister because unfortunatly she is an attention getter everyone other than her step dad knows she cuts and she doesn't care because that makes her look "more" emo, she went from loving animals to hating them, she went from loving life to hating everyone and everything. she is one of those rich people that say their lives suck ass but really they have it made..... so basically she is the definition of a poser to me

I actually ask myself whether or not I'm poser status every morning. It's a fear of mine to feel like i'm just a scene chameleon. At the end of the day I just realize that we all change and even if I'm a poser or not it won't matter 2 years from now. That's how I also treat individuals that aren't like me, if someone's just doing it for the fashion than I congratulate them because personally I'm not a fashionable dude! I just send props to whoever however as much as possible!

Someone, who is tryin got be someone they are not. Just like a bunch of freshmen at my school last year were playing the "emo/scene/skater" look and it just wasn't right. You could tell they weren't who they dressed as.

They're freshmen, kids will always have that phase. Leave them be, they'll come around.

In relation to the emo scene a poser is very hard to class really. You can't say it's just someone who wants attention (most people do at times and there is nothing wrong with that unless your OTT...) You can't say it's someone who is just in it for the fashion as it's very likely they will like some of the music (unless they are just following the style to take the piss) I don't have a problem with posers as long as they have some understanding of the emo scene and aren't out to put down/hurt others.

Well cutting is emo ....or its a cry for help ....i cut for a reason...but maybe if someone is cutting its a cry for help or need someone to be there for them
