It's hard to force a smile in this godforsaken cage Gone are dreams that light my face Tears of anguish in their place Reality taints each bitter word Some are hidden, most unheard Life in agony, pained by rage I sit and wait for closure The darkness in my mind swells and drips From screaming mind to fingertips And as my fears engulf my aching soul The torture draws ever closer... Torn between dwindling hope and mystery The line between acceptance and agony A life that's never whole A choice with power to tear lives apart A knife to the back A blade to the heart And goodness and light set to stone The descending dark will soon prevail Honesty and loyalty Consumed by betrayal And I'm left crying misery All alone.
