Hi! Sorry to hear your family have been less than supportive of you over the last few years. It sounds as if your brothers in particular have been picking on you. Unfortunately siblings can at times be malicious without any good reason. It also sounds as if your mum is inclined to take their word over yours which must be particularly frustrating. Is there anybody outside your immediate family you could confide in? Perhaps part of your extended family? If you could discuss how you feel with them, they may then relay this to your mum, and as an "adult" their word may have more weight. Your mum should of course listen to your concerns directly, but if in this case she doesn't, another member of the family may be able to get through to her. I would also try and make a few solid friends that you can count upon at school. They will believe in you and help you to believe in yourself, and keep you committed to attending college. If you can surround yourself with some good people like this it may help counter some of the negativity you feel bombarded by at home. If you feel that being in that environment will genuinely affect your educational prospects, it may be worth subtly mentioning to a teacher how you feel. I can understand you may be reluctant to do this if you feel it could get your family into trouble, but it is worth considering. They may offer your family some advice and recommendations on what they should be doing to support you. In relation to your recollections of your mum's boyfriend, if you feel in immediate danger of abuse in any form in future under any circumstances, get in touch with someone who can help. Either the police if it is urgent, or phone a helpline that will help get you in contact with someone who will listen to you if your own family aren't responding to your concerns. Again this is another drastic step, but you must protect yourself if you feel under threat. I hope that things improve for you soon. Unfortunately if you want a better supporting family lifestyle, it would have to come from others family. As mentioned, there are times when say cousins n such are more considerate. The upside is you'll learn to be independent... well it has it's downsides too. Eventually just have to accept that they aren't very emotional parents/people.
