Drop C, Guitar Sep 22 2015, 11:39 PM

okay so i'm not amazing at guitar yet but most of the songs I want to learn are in drop C anyway and I don't have a tuner or anything so is there any resources you can give me to be able to tune it that way? Thanks

If you have a piano, use it. A phone? Use it. (Download an app, most are usually free.) You can look up how to tune a guitar down from standard tuning, though I usually just know to tune all the strings down one note except for the low E, which obviously should be tuned down 2 notes. Good luck!

I have a keyboard so i could use that. I do also have an app for standard tuning. Thanks for the advice!

If you have an Android try gStrings tuner. I used it for years and now pay for their updated version WAVES, but the original is free and still great. If you want a full CGCFAD tuning feel free to message me and I can walk you through it pretty quickly, with or without a tuner. Best of luck to you!

You could tune the thickest (lowest) three strings to a C5 power chord (C - G - C) seeing most of the bands that use this tuning mostly play chords on the lowest three. Then F A D (whole tone down) for the thinnest 3. My band use this tuning. Make sure you have sufficient string gauge thickness to handle the tuning otherwise it won't stay in tune very well!
