Poem by an anonymous writer Alone in darkness I lay for I cannot find the light, I've given up all hope, I've given up all fight, Defeated i close my eyes and listen to the beat of rain, As my heart is sliced open and set ablaze with an unbearable pain, Silently I sit, paralyzed for a short while, Finally managing to replace that farmiliar fake smile, So standing I push back tears that beg to come, I bury my emotions deep until I'm completely numb, But try as I might, I can't get rid of the anguish and guilt, Its towering waves crash down the wall I have built, My hearts now uncovered, I can feel the panic start to rise, I pull a pillow over my head so as to smother my cries, Slowly I feel myself drowning as the memories flood back, I succumb once again to weakness as the last of my sanity starts to crack, My hands fumble for something sharp, something metal, With each cut into my leg peace fills me and the whirling starts to settle, I'm worthless, useless, just a fuck up I know, But it no longer matters, I'm soothed as I see my blood start to flow, I fall back on the bed with a soft sight, Wishing and praying I could just shut my eyes and die, Oh when will this demon inside me finally cease, My heart and mind remain empty, for now at least
