I find distracting my mind works... so listening to music, drawing, going for a walks/ fitness etc helps me relax alittle

Some form of exercise for sure as it takes your mind of things, makes you a little happier and feel better about yourself. Plus it's healthy (if you don't overdo it).

I've found the music I tend to listen to when I'm depressed makes it worse. I like to clean to distract myself. That, or talk to my best friend or my lovely boyfriend. They both make me laugh. Oh, and writing or drawing too.

i listen to music and put it up really loud because i cant think about all the bad things when all i can hear is lyrics streaming through my mind. I Also write very descriptive letters expressing everything and then delete it all.

Something that I find really helps is to just write out all your feelings and thoughts on paper. Hold nothing back.

I've been dealing with depression for about 5-6 years now and I've used many ways of dealing with it. When I was younger I often cut myself as a way to deal with it, but with that being so self destructive I eventually went too far and scared myself out of doing that anymore. I listened to a lot of Conor Oberst music because even though it's sad songs, it still made me feel a lot better. I was in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for a little while but I dropped out because I didn't think it was working. I went through a phase of substance abuse which has calmed down a lot in the past few months. I've been on 3 different anti-depressants and a couple of mood stabilisers and I'm on the 4th now and it's going alright. Mostly now I just try to keep myself busy but really "dealing with it" isn't really a good way of putting it, if I could deal with it, it wouldn't exactly be a problem.

Making pointless lists of things to do ..ie house work or talking to close friends is another good one as often you find stuff out about each other(inc yourself ) that you never knew before

I still cut after 7 years of severe depression and I'm not proud of it :( I think I'm a freak but it's the only way I know how to deal with it.... It's terrible... So please don't do it... it kinda ruins your self image and confidence... :((
