An empty fortress.. fighting was useless, They burnt it down and slaughtered the living. The screams of mothers and the cries of their children, it rings in my head as often as I'm breathing. What could we have done? To prevent this outcome.. When all that we knew was to cower away. The forest so silent where animals had fled The trees left so broken, they watched and they bled. A peaceful district of the Hell among Earth Was not peaceful for long when they came and they learnt, The ways of the saddened, the scars they create.. Seeing hearts torn to pieces had filled them with rage. The ones that we ran from took over our homes, they filled us with poison and crumbled our bones. And yet they wonder the reasons we scarred with such ease, why we took to the tree tops to be one with the breeze. ~A.K
