They fought for us, Fell for us, But we only take a minute to remember thus. Falling quicker than the crisp autumn leaves, Falling like dominoes and then decaying. From the ground they lay to rest upon, A small crimson poppy grows, From the blood they bled for us. We give them back their poppy, Their blood, But it's too late to give them back a life they could have had. What once gave us this life, And a single chance at it, Blows what we have left to only fragments of our imagination.
