Honestly, wearing fishnets without a garter belt straight to college or around conservative family is just asking for a lecture, even if they are way more comfortable than tights. While the forum is right that an outfit is only as "slutty" as your styling makes it, most people over 30 are going to immediately associate bare fishnets with a subculture look rather than casual school wear. If you want to avoid the annoying eye-rolls from your parents while keeping the comfort, you should definitely pair them under some ripped denim jeans or a longer skirt so only a bit of the pattern peaks through. Going full-on exposed fishnets with no garter to a morning lecture is a bold move, but if you're ready to deal with the stares, go for it.
