my parents strict. May 24 2025, 12:45 AM

my parents r bein super duper strict on me I'm not allowed to dye my hair or anything once when I told them I want hair extensions my dad won't buy me them cuz  they're "not for muslims" yea I'm a forced Muslim cuz my dad wants to fit his stoopid religion in me (no offence to other Muslims I'm sorry.) and when I said I wanted a black sofa cover my parents say its for funerals and stuff liek no. I guess they're gonna think somethings wrong with me  like I'm planning on my su1c1de soon or smth like dat. so I want my room to be like a funeral. but it's not tru.

I sympathize. The situation is really not simple. Perhaps in the future you will have the opportunity to migrate to a country with more suitable laws and morals for your comfortable life.

Hi I'm probably at least your parents age if not older. My parents were strict too. But the one thing is time goes fast it won't be forever. You will be an adult one day. But life gets harder then bills to pay and stress. I would love to be a kid again with no responsibilities.

Parents usually think they know what's best for you, but most of the time, they don’t. Like it or not, you still live with them, so just chill a bit. Try to bring in the stuff you like in a simpler way. If they don’t let you use sofa covers, maybe go for some pillows or a blanket instead. Your hair? You can throw on some accessories you like ~little things. I know some parents can be pretty strict, but just take it slow until you’ve got your own place. Don’t argue or push too hard about this stuff, it usually just makes them mad and messes with living together. And honestly, that way of thinking might never really change, even when you’re living alone and they come over. But hey, that’s a whole other story.
