Leaving Huge Social Media Platforms

I have begun the process of leaving huge social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok and replacing them with smaller platforms. I was tired of the censorship and toxicity happening on these bigger platforms. I was thinking about doing this for a while. What really gave me the push to actually go through it was TikTok selling out to a US company. I'll still have my accounts up and scroll, I just won't be actively posting.

The first one to go was Twitter and tbh it's been a minute since I got rid it. And I do mean got rid of it, I deleted my account and deleted the app off my phone. Ever since it got bought out by Stinkrat it's become a cesspool of toxicity and porn. Tbf I never used it anymore so it was best to just fully delete it. Anyway, I replaced it with Bluesky. I have to remember to post more frequently, though. Maybe I should start looking up ice breakers, but I don't know it sounds like I might be trying to engagement farm or whatever if I do that.

Currently, I'm replacing Instagram with an app called UpScrolled. The amount of people allowed to get away with queerphobia, especially transphobia, on that app is unacceptable. Ntm, I don't think they really know their own guidelines. Not too long ago, I goth creator jokingly made an OF for their car (a hearse) and Instagram banned them. Yet, OF has an account and there are tons of sex workers showing themselves on there. Let me be perfectly clear, I don't have anything against sex workers, get your bag, just don't promote your work on an app that is crawling with unmonitored kids. UpScrolled, currently, has an influx of sex workers promoting themselves (but it's more like something you would see on Twitter, like full on nudity) but the creator is super active on the app and they are doing something to get rid of them. My posts do get a good amount of engagement but it's still slow growing.

Next, Lemon8 will be replaced by two apps: Reinbow and Flashes. If you didn't know, Lemon8 is owned by ByteDance, the same company that owns TikTok and CapCut, so any censorship happening on TikTok will happen on Lemon8. Reinbow is an alternative to TikTok but I'm using as an alt to Lemon8. I used to post book-ish content on Lemon8 but that will switch over Reinbow, along with doing live readings of banned books. With Flashes, it's Bluesky's version of Instagram. I also used to post my artwork on Lemon8 but that will, eventually, switch over to Flashes. Flashes is currently only out for iPhone but it's in beta testing for Android. I'm hoping it comes out on Android soon.

That leaves TikTok. TikTok will be replaced by Skylight and 3Five. Each one will host a different series I'm planning. I currently have a name and some characters planned for one of them: The Real Alts of Salt Lake. I don't know if I'll have this one on Skylight or 3Five, yet. The other one I haven't started really planning, yet, but I do have an idea for it that I've had for months now.

Anyway, the only large platform I will post on is YouTube. It'll mostly be used to promote my other socials, except for Skylight and 3Five. Those two will be used for trailers and such to promote the full episodes that will be posted on their own YouTube channels. I don't know if I'll ever return to the other platforms. A lot of things will have to change for me to even consider going back. Let me know how you feel about what's going on the larger social media platforms and if you would like to know more about either series let me know and I might just make a couple journal posts explaining them.

Dear diary,

       It's happened, my husband was let from his job. It's ridiculous! His, now former, boss said he would hire my husband on permanently after he's completed a certain amount of hours only to around on Thursday and fire him, saying they didn't have enough work for him! It sucks they did this the day after his birthday but what really sucks is the week he first started working there he picked up an extra shift to show he's a dedicated employee and ensure he'll have a permanent position there. He's looking for a new job but it sucks he even has to.

       Anyway, my husband got a gift card to Cafe Rio from his parents as a birthday gift. We're planning to go there and finally celebrate his birthday while we're out today getting some more cat food for Ghost. That little kitty can eat! That's a good thing, though! She's finally gotten to a healthy weight now and her fur looks so much better! We've only had her for four months but she's come a long way. I'm so proud of her. My precious, Ki Cat!

A/N: This was supposed to be posted the other day but I've been very tired and low on energy. Just know my husband's birthday was the 10th not yesterday.

Dear diary,

       Yesterday was my husband's birthday and I had the day off from work, unfortunately, he didn't. I was hoping we'd be able to go out somewhere and celebrate before he had to go to work, but we didn't. Anyway, my husband is now 36. It's crazy to know he's getting closer and closer to 40. I don't care how old this man gets I will always love him.

        The day before Christmas will be the five year anniversary of when we first got together. I'm hoping we can do a quick something to celebrate that. Five years is big and I feel like that's even more so for couple's that started dating during Corona. Gods was that a crazy time to be alive.

Dear diary,

       It's finally happened! I was able to read without my loud ass coworker pulling me from my book. And it wasn't because she wasn't at work, she was, but because she finally shut up during last break. I was able to really enjoy what I was reading. I'm glad because it's a good book and I'm hoping to go to the library tomorrow before going to the in-laws so I want to see if I can't finish it before then.

     In other news, I've begun going live on TikTok with some friends while on my way to work. It sucks that I have to do this, but anything to feel safe. When will those in marginalized communities, especially women/femme presenting people, feel safe to walk around? Things need to change, but who will change them and when?

A/N: I'm pesce-pollotarian (I'm mostly vegetarian but I still eat seafood and poultry) and I don't like turkey so it's highly unlikely I'll eat the ham or turkey if they do bring any in for my team, but if I absolutely I'm more likely to eat the ham instead of the turkey (I reeeeeaalllllyyyyy don't like turkey).

Dear diary,

       They're supposed to be bringing in ham and turkey at work for a Thanksgiving potluck. Hopefully, our team gets something. We were lucky with our old unload and overnight managers because they would make sure we got fed, but now they're both gone. An older woman that works days did bring in some pumpkin bars with cinnamon cream cheese icing and they were delicious!

       I asked for my husband's birthday off next month like I do every year and I got it off, but they also gave me the day before. If I had been asking for a Friday or Monday off I wouldn't mind and just treat as an unexpected four day weekend, but his birthday is on a Wednesday this year. I don't want to miss out on too much money so I talked to the current unload manager about coming in the day before my husband's birthday and he's going to e-mail the person that handles scheduling about it.

     I was tasked with packing down the bays last night. I decided to work in paint since there were people already working in the other departments. It was the end of the night and I was fixing all the upstock back into the overhead when I hear my loud ass coworker in the next aisle over belting a Christmas song. It's still November and knowing the rest of the team's thoughts on Christmas, do you really think any of us want to hear you belting "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"? Sing what you want, of course, but keep it down. I've had just about enough with her constantly being so loud so I turned on my phone, put on some music and turned up the volume. Petty? Maybe. Passive aggressive? Perhaps, but ask me if I care. It was either that or I yell at her and I chose the option that was least likely to get me in trouble. Sue me.

A/N: I've taken it upon myself to get back into writing in my diary. My therapist has been hounding me to do it since I've started seeing them, but I never had the time. I ultimately decided to start writing while I'm live on Reality.

Dear diary,

       This month has surely been something. We've lost 3 people at work this month so far and our workload doesn't seem to be getting any lighter even though the busy season is over. We don't have any trucks for the next two days but instead of working on bays we'll be working on the massive amount of pushback we've already managed to acquire even though the week's just started.

      I've managed to get back to my Reality lives and posting on Lemon8 but I haven't gotten back to posting on Instagram. I just barely started feeling better after being sick for two weeks, but I still have low energy. I'll need to come up with new makeup looks but I'm hoping to get back to posting on Instagram next month.

     In other news, my husband's gotten us a car from one of his coworkers. He started a new job last month and it seems his coworkers have taken a huge shine to him. I'm not surprised, my husband is a very outgoing man. One of his coworkers gave him a bunch of food some weeks ago and now another has sold him their old car. It needed a new battery but now it runs really well. Having this car will definitely make getting groceries and going out a lot easier.

     Speaking of "going out", my husband took me out to this Cajun seafood place that's not too far from where we live. We split a seafood broil between the two of us and it was actually really good, except for one thing. My husband found a PREGNANT crawfish in our broil! I was in such shock and almost cried seeing the eggs still in the mother. And I know they boil the crawfish alive but that doesn't make my heart break any less for those poor, unborn babies! On another note, I also got to try beignets for the first time! They were so fluffy and good! I'm so happy I finally got to try them after years of wanting to!

     I definitely want to go back for mine and my husband's wedding anniversary next year. Hopefully, next time we won't have any pregnant sea creatures in the food.
