im new to this site,glad to feel belonged.as you an see the pic of me (was like a month ago).before my mom forced me to get it cut(now its short).then i was more depressed than ever.but at some point when i see a real emo at the mall i just feel like shit.nothin.not even close to lookin like them.so then in my mind i was thinking i'm just worthless shit that wont matter if i die and that no one will miss me.-please convince me that i am emo(it drives me crazy to think that im just a wannabe),if you can convince me,this can make my week. i'll just say some stuff about my self- ive never been loved by another girl, just learning to play guitar, also i'm just starting poetry, im[shy, sensitive,not social,], i never want to see 2 people in love if i cant be loved. some things that help me out through life is drawing how i feel.pretty much it

i'm not saying any of this to sound mean, but I'm guessing you want an honest opinion, right? Well honestly, 'poser' means different things to different people. However, I am a firm believer someone is only a poser if they're in it because of the 'look.' You aren't emo, then, you're 'scene.' And as you are concerned with your look, initially I would have said you are possibly. HOWEVER. Seeing as you don't have to look emo to be emo, I'd say you aren't a 'poser,' or at least my personal definition of that term. I believe emo chooses you and you sir, are quite depressed. To say that you are emo though, I don't know. You seem overly concerned about the look of emo to me. And you do conform a bit to the steriotype. HOWEVER. Some people do, even if they are real. To say I can convince you are a real 'emo' person...I can't. And what is this? You say you can't be loved? How so? I understand you want to fit in somewhere, and that's fine. But I have to ask, what does emo mean to you? Oh, and welcome to the site.(Sorry if I seem cold-hearted up there, just trying to give my honest opinion. I really do not mean to offend you) My new-ness is wearing off now, but I'm still pretty new myself. :D

Okay, first off, poser is a bad word. People who want to be emo aren't exactly 'posers', they're just curious about the Emo lifestyle and whether or not they want to live like us. If you want to be Emo, then DON'T ASK FOR OUR OPINION. Just be you. You wanna cut your hair? Go for it! You wanna grow it out and dye it? Why not! It's in the music, the attitude. If people call you a poser, screw them! Just be yourself. And think that, no matter what you do, you're gonna be original. THEN you'll be Emo.

yeah ...don't care what other people say they can fuck off!!!1 and yeah i have also learned not to care about what other emo's say to u some can be kinda nasty.. iam just ignoring it nowadays..:] and yeah u will not be an outsider here...feeeel the love ! !x

We have a lot in common! :D I used to be all concerned about what other emos thought of me. I knew i'd never conform and wear skinnez, but I still felt emo. And then after a while, I just kept thinking about these conversations I would have with myself day in, day out, and I just grew tired of the whole thing. I've since decided I hate tags, because id we're all individuals, what difference does it make anyway? I'd never call myself "Emo" again, I've learnt to respect myself more. ¬.¬ I have some very emo traits, some very very unemo traits, but I don't give a f***, nothing changes me. Naa, mate, this shit will turn your head. My honest reccomendation would be to drop the whole emo thing and just tale pride in the fact no one will ever be as you as you. :) I understand if you're very drawn to the emo scene this may be very disheartening, but trust me. I've been exactly where you are before, and in the end you'll feel better. You can PM me any time you like. :D

All great advice above which I agree with. Emo 'should' be more about the music rather than the look. What bands are you into? Like with most things there will always be someone more 'emo' than you that you feel looks better. Just get on with your life and be happy.

well the only time I think someone is a poser is when they try to look emo for attention, that would be the only case where I would think someone is a poser. One thing, just be you :) just do what your heart tells you to do, if you like the emo style, want to look emo, go for it. if not just be yourself and dress the way you want and as long as you accept yourself, others will start to accept you as yourself. Like me, my heart is with being emo, I never really chose to act, dress or prefer this way, it was just me you know? I was just automatically into this stuff. lol actually i've been into this stuff since I was 7 really ^^ I remember my old pink studded bracelet I used to wear 24/7, from that day on when I asked my grandma to buy me it, it just kicked off the start of making who I am today. So if you want someone to talk to or a bit of a confidence booster, drop me a PM sometime ^^ I am a guy's girl so I easily befriend guys. And P.S. I want your beanie :D

I agree that emo is really more of a tag that people have given us, so to be emo is to be original, and like I said: You don't have to look emo to be emo. Don't base yourself on other people's opinions. Be who you want to be. If you're only in it for attention then there's a problem. But if not, cool. And yeah, poser is a bad word.

lol thats cool, i'm always handing things down to my sister aswell ^^ even though she doesn't wear it more than one day. But like I said, if you ever want anyone to talk to i'm here and i'm a good listener.
