When the rain begins to fall Into the tiny lonely pound, And ripples travel Through time and space And memories start to race: Into my subconscious full of light Filled with memories of those nights When I’d just dream of you and I, When I’d just wonder why... When the rain begins to fall I’ll smile cause I’ve been through it all Knowing love could never live Knowing mine was not yours to give. As every cascade of “what if is” Fall into the stream of “I wish”, I’ll wish upon that golden light That love will find you tonight. As the rain begins to fall My thoughts will drift back to that pond And upon our reflections I will gaze And remember how close we came. Those moments when our love did spark A fire in our lonely hearts.. As the rain begins to fall I’ll smile and know that Through it all I made the right choice. I was strong: I did not try to hold on, I did not drown. Stephen July 25 2012©
