Parents found out that I cut Oct 28 2013, 08:33 PM
So my parents found out that i'm cutting and I don't know what they are going to do and how I am going to respond... does anyone else have advice or has the same thing happened to you... I am afraid they will take away my razors and I know I am addicted but sometimes it is the only thing that gets me through the day and lets me release

Just tell them lightly. Let them know its the only way you can let release. If they love you, then they will understand and try to help you through with it.

When my parents found out that i do they simply sat down with me and asked me why. i didn't answer honestly, i said because my cousins suicide 3 years ago, they believed me. They threatened to send me to the looney bin but i never went, they somewhat forgot but i know they remember still. You´ĺl pull through don´t worry.

At first they may seem angry or whatnot.. but that is probably due to shock and worry. Your best now telling them straight and say that you do and for what reasons (well stuff that your comfortable with saying)... they'll try and help im sure :)

aww ther is more things to do then cutting... trust me n yes your parents may flip out but jus tell em up front n forwardly wit a calm tone and jus tell em y u did it. dont yell at them if they yell at u if they cry dont cry... most of all tell em tht u hav learned allot from this expereince n tht u hav other ways to cope. say tht u gunna take up writing or sumtin... n also hide one of your razors b4 they take it... n most of all pleez dont cut no more...

From my experience, expect a lot of yelling, name-calling, arguments, guilt, blame, threats and trips to the docs. They're also gonna try making you promise never to do it again. No matter how much they pressure you, don't promise them anything. It'll make things 100x worse if/when you cut again and if they find out about it. They will probably take away your razors and shizz as well no matter what you say or do. Mine did. They even made me clean out my room to make sure I don't have anything in there I can hurt myself with. They might also start telling everyone who will listen about it either to make you feel worse about it or because they don't know that it's a very private and personal thing and they shouldn't be telling others about it, I never figured out which it is. Anyway, good luck with everything.

When my parents found out that I used to cut, my Mum took me to her bedroom, sat me down and asked me why I did it. I showed her my arms, showed her everywhere I had scars and she just cried. And my Dad hugged me. Honestly, it depends on your parents. Your parents might just be sad and blame themselves. Don't lie to them, tell them the truth. Really, if they take away your razors, it's the best thing for you. They may be able to help you find healthier ways of getting you through your day. Sometimes opening up can make it all easier. If they do get mad, tell them they should support you and help you to feel better. Also, if you need someone to talk to about it, my inbox is open :)
