Depends how determined you are and if you're a quick learner. So anything from a few months upto a year+. Also depends how good you wanna be of course ^^

Well, first decide if you wanna learn tabs or notes. i have no experience with notes, and i think tabs are easy. tabs take a whole ten minuets to learn, but the time consuming part is making your fingers fast enough to carry out these tabs. like.. smoke on the water, easiest song i know, the tabs are: 035 0365 035 65 You may think "wtf is that?!?" but its actually very easy, so i suggest you learn tabs. good luck.

Still, basic chords are nice to know before you start with tabs ^^ Like, the difference between a reg E and E5 for instance :p

yup lol go with him ^^ he sounds smart cuz i have no clue wat a E or E5 is. also.. with tabs.. idk if this happens to a lot of people or just me, but all the tabs i make kinda look like the first i learned (hand of blood - bfmv) O_o maybe theyre just weird tabs. idk.

Heh. Well, basically a regular E is with tabs: 0 0 1 2 2 0 When an E5 is: 2 2 0 Just top 3 strings, also known as power chord ^^

ya i tried that and my hand freaked out. it seems hard to learn notes.

Varies on the individual can be anything between 3-6 months to a year. I'm a tutor and have seen different people progress at different speeds. Inbox me if you have any questions about it, i'll try to help :D

a little theory work about notes and that never hert anyone :P you can probs teach yourself if your musically talented i no people who have learnt guitar by themselves but getting lessons would be a good idea for someone with not a lot of knowledge of music good luck :)
